Federal Aid for Housing has Arrived

Rhode Island has received $6.2 million in federal aid to assist with building apartments and providing housing services for the elderly and disabled.

Funding breakdown:

Department of Housing and Urban Development Grant (HUD)= $3.1 million going to the Women’s Development Corporation to build 20 one-bedroom apartments in South Kingstown.

$1.6 million will be used by The ARC of Blackstone Valley to buy and restore homes in South Kingstown for low-income residents with physical disabilities.

$934,500 will go to Opportunities Unlimited and House of Home Community Development Corp. to build 10 apartments in Pawtucket for the disabled.
