We wanted to introduce a new ICC Member this year, Courtenay Good.  She is a second year in-school AmeriCorps Member, serving at Asa Messer Elementary.

Like all of our 10 in-school AmeriCorps members, Courtenay goes above and beyond.  She is heavily involved in many of Inspiring Minds’ programs, but specifically, she has taken the lead with our new Leyendo After School Program this year.  The Leyendo ASP is an educational resource at Asa Messer Elementary School which targets English Language Learners.  The ASP works towards developing students’ language acquisition through fun and engaging educational activities which center around the science theme of the month. Leyendo ASP station activities work not only to support the in-school learning the child receives during the day, but, through specially designed station activities, the program seeks to provide students with the tools and confidence to use their English skills in everyday situations.  This program runs from November to May 2014 for students in 2nd to 4th grade.
